Backyard poultry
& goats

Every practice in the book whose own website names chickens, goats or both — 53 of them, across twelve states. It is the hardest lane to fill honestly and the shortest at night: three of the fifty-three say somebody is there overnight, and they are below. The rest is daylight work and it waits under them.

If it's an emergency, call before you drive.

01
Central Kentucky Small Ruminant Veterinary Services LLC QUALIFIED
Salvisa, KY

Katie Jackson, DVM — llamas and alpacas, sheep and goats, and small-animal work limited to working livestock guardian dogs. This is the closest thing in the book to a goat specialist. Under “Cattle, pig, & poultry” the site says only “Limited services available for other species.”, which is why the mark is on the name: the birds are the limited part. The site lists “24/7 emergency care” for small ruminants and camelids and states “Emergency coverage available currently for small ruminants & camelids only” — not a public emergency room, so not in the overnight lane above. Only “Salvisa, KY 40372” is published; there is no street address.

One lane, two animals

47 say goats · 16 say birds · 10 say both

Six of the bird practices take no goats at all — small-animal and exotic clinics with a chicken page, not farm vets, and four of them sit inside a metro. Read the row before you load a goat into a car.

THE CHICKEN IS THE HARD ONE

Of these fifty-three practices, forty-seven name goats on their own site and only sixteen name poultry. Ten name both. So the lane the feed store thinks of as one errand is really two, and the shorter half is the birds: outside those sixteen, a backyard flock in this country is looking at an exotics vet, a long drive, or nobody. That is the whole finding, and we are not going to pad it by counting clinics that never said the word.

Two practices carry a QUALIFIED mark below. The mark means the practice's own site puts a limit on this lane itself — limited service for birds, or preventative goat work by appointment only. It is not a knock. It is the sentence they wrote about themselves, moved up where you will see it before you drive.

Shawnee Animal Hospital
1509 N Kickapoo Street · Shawnee, OK

“In addition to equine care, we are equipped to treat cattle, swine, llamas, alpacas, chickens, and small ruminants.” Chickens and small ruminants on the same line, which puts them in both halves of this lane.

Five in one ring · Des Moines (5)

One ring out of Des Moines and the most farm-forward state in the book. Five goat practices, every one of them making farm calls, and two of them answering overnight.

01
Cedar Creek Animal Clinic

The large-animal list opens “Farm Calls, Cattle Processing, Pregnancy Checking, Vaccinations, Parasite Prevention, Deworming... Emergencies for established clients”, and the surgery list names “Ceasarian sections on cattle, swine, sheep, and goats” and “Urethral surgery for water belly in cattle and goats”. That is goat medicine described by the operation, which is about as specific as this lane gets. No poultry stated.

“We also offer some preventative care to horses, goats, and other small hobby-farm animals with advance-notice appointments.” Some, preventative, and by appointment — their words, and the reason the mark is on the name. On coming out: “Our qualified staff still does house-calls with an advance notice appointment.” House calls are not farm calls and the site does not claim them. No cattle and no poultry stated.

KANSAS — NONE, AND THAT IS THE FINDING

The Wichita ring is walked and it turned up twelve practices, and not one of them says chickens or goats on its own website. So Kansas gets no block on this page. It is not that we skipped it — the four practices filed under Missouri above are physically in Kansas, on the Kansas City ring's own side of the line, and you can see them in the Missouri block. The rest of the state, on this lane, is honestly empty until somebody's site says otherwise.

How this page was made

Checked 9 August 2026 · 53 practices
01

Their site or nothing

Every name, number, address and overnight claim on this page was read off the practice's own website on 9 August 2026, and every source is printed with the listing. No Yelp, no map cards, no directory scrapes. Where a practice doesn't publish a thing — a street address, a set of hours — the line says so instead of filling it in.

02

Species are claims, not guesses

A practice is in this lane because its own site names chickens or goats. Where it names them we name them back; where it says it takes no livestock, or offers only limited service for a species, we print that too. Hours live on the ring pages, quoted in the practice's own words — this page is the lane, not the clock.

03

No status lights, no stars

Nothing here is rendered as “open now” — the day a clinic closes early is exactly the day a status light gets you killed on the drive. No ratings, no reviews, no sponsored placements, no affiliate links, nowhere in this book. Order is by state, then by ring, then alphabetical.
