Vets near Jackson

Twelve practices, every one of them read off its own website. Two of them say on their own site that somebody is there overnight, and both sit in the suburbs east and north of town. Everything else on this page is daylight work and waits under it.

If it's an emergency, call before you drive.

Large animal & mixed practice

Four in this ring

In here because the practice's own website says it treats cattle, horses, sheep or goats. A clinic that only mentions dogs and cats is not in this lane no matter how good it is. Four out of twelve is the whole finding — most of the Jackson ring is town work.

Their large-animal page runs under two headings — “Equine Care” and “Bovine Services” — so horses and cattle, in their own words. Nowhere on the site do they say whether they drive out, so they are not in the farm-call lane. Ask when you ring.

Large-animal services for “horses, cows, goats, and more”, and they come to you: “Our fully equipped ambulatory trucks bring veterinary care directly to your farm or pasture.” On nights they go further than anybody else in this ring — “Our large animal team is available 24/7, offering reliable and consistent emergency care”, and “24-hour emergency coverage within our service area”. Read that as a truck on call for livestock, not a lit hospital you can drive a dog to at 3 a.m.; the lobby keeps the hours below.

Monday-Friday: 7:30am - 5:30pm; Saturday: 8:00am - 10:00am (lobby services and boarding pick-up/drop-off only); Sunday: Closed

A truck, not a building — “a mobile service that provides veterinary care services for our beloved patients at your home or farm”. Bovine: “Vaccinations, deworming, dehorning, castrations, etc.” Equine: “limited wellness exams, wound care, deworming, health certificates, and coggins”. Caprine and Porcine: “Hoof trimming, vaccinations, deworming”. Their stated territory is “Serving Rankin, Madison, Hinds, Simpson, Scott counties and beyond”.

Plainly stated on the front page: “routine large animal services for cattle, horses, goats, and sheep”. The word routine is theirs and it is doing work — there is no emergency claim and no farm-call claim anywhere on the site, so this is daylight, haul-in livestock work.

The other half of the same errand

The vet is one number. The farm you're hauling to is in the Almanac.

Tramel Farms keeps the sister book — the working farms, stands and homesteads on this same ring. Same rule about not making things up, different page. The farms near Jackson keep this book honest: when a grower tells us who they call at two in the morning, that name gets checked against the practice's own site before it gets printed here.

SAME RING · SAME COUNTIES · DIFFERENT BOOK

Poultry & goats

Three in this ring · all goats, no chickens

The hardest lane to fill honestly. A practice is in here only if its own site names chickens, goats or both. “Exotics” alone does not count, and neither does a photo of a hen. In this ring the lane came back lopsided, and the finding under the rows says how.

CHICKENS, SPECIFICALLY — NONE

We went through all twelve sites looking for a chicken, a hen, a bird, a flock, the word poultry — anything. Not one practice in this ring puts it in writing. Three of them say goats and say it clearly, which is why the lane is not empty; the poultry half of it is. If you keep a backyard flock near Jackson, this book has no name for you yet, and we would rather tell you that than hand you a small-animal clinic and let you find out in the parking lot.

Farm call

Two in this ring · one of them qualified

They come to you, and their own site says so. Where the site puts a limit on it — a service area, a client-only rule, a preference for hauling in — the limit is printed with the listing instead of being smoothed over.

“Our fully equipped ambulatory trucks bring veterinary care directly to your farm or pasture.” The round-the-clock part carries their own boundary on it — “24-hour emergency coverage within our service area” — and they do not publish where that area ends. That is the qualifier: ask them on the first call, not on the worst night.

The other six

Six of twelve · dogs and cats

WHAT THEY DON'T CLAIM

Six practices in this ring say nothing on their own website about cattle, horses, goats or chickens, and nothing about coming out to you or staying open past supper. That keeps them out of all four lanes above, and it is not a mark against any of them — a town clinic that never pretended to be a cow vet is exactly what it says it is. They are listed below because you asked for vets near Jackson and these are vets near Jackson, hours in their own words. If you have got a heifer down, go back up the page.

01
All Creatures Animal Care Center
262 New Mannsdale Road · Madison, MS

The one in this six that gets close. Their site says they'll see “a dog, cat, pocket pet, exotic, or farm animal” — but it names no species, publishes no livestock page and never says it makes farm calls, so a phrase is all it is and a phrase does not put a practice in a lane. Worth a phone call if you are stuck; not worth a drive on our say-so.

How this page was made

Checked 9 August 2026 · 12 practices
01

Their site or nothing

Every name, number, address, hour and overnight claim on this page was read off the practice's own website on 9 August 2026. No Yelp, no map cards, no directory scrapes. Where a practice does not publish a thing — McCrory keeps no street address and no hours, being a truck — the line says so instead of filling in.

02

Lanes are claims, not guesses

A practice is in the large-animal, goat or farm-call lane because its own site says it treats those animals or drives out. The Vicksburg clinic runs an equine page and a bovine page but never says it comes to you, so it is not in the farm-call lane. That is the whole method, and it is why the chicken lane came back empty.

03

No status lights, no stars

Hours are quoted, never rendered as “open now” — URGIVET is shut at noon on a Tuesday and a green dot would never tell you. No ratings, no reviews, no sponsored placements, no affiliate links. Order is by lane and species, then alphabetical.
